I’ve been meaning to post this garden update all summer! Since we moved into our house three years ago, I have always wanted to get some garden seating to make it more comfortable for relaxing in. We did have a small metal dining table with chairs, but it’s not ideal for lounging or a sneaky snooze while the children play! Thanks to Lights4fun, we were able to transform this area into a much more sociable space with beautiful festoon lighting.

For the sofa, I decided on a simple streamlined design from Alice’s Garden. Our patio is fairly small so I wanted something that would fit the space and be quite compact. I chose a lightweight style with an aluminium frame as we don’t have space to store the furniture in winter.

I then accessorised with some items I already had at home, including some cushions (including a DIY turquoise velvet Designers Guild cushion), a Rice DK plastic mat, Aarong blanket and Maisons du Monde tray (gifted). The table lamp was purchased in Cairo on holiday and floor lamp is from La Redoute.

The festoon lighting was kindly provided by Lights4fun. I used 3 sets of 10 warm white LED Connectable festoon lights which I connected to a transformer and plugged in to our outdoor socket. It was really easy to connect up the sets and the lighting really transforms the whole garden in the evening. We would never sit out here in the evening before but it is now a welcoming place to sit and relax.

I have some more plans for this area next year, as we definitely need some shade in the afternoon and the rug is sadly getting past its best, but I was glad we managed to make a start this year!
