I’ve admired Toya’s sewing for a while on Instagram and when she put out a call for test sewers recently I was really happy to be selected. The Collage Sweater is a slouchy cocoon shaped jumper which can be worn by boys or girls. It can be made with a colour block pieced front or as a simple sweatshirt.
I made two versions, this one is in a pretty navy French terry with silver metallic hearts I found on Ebay. It’s very soft and has good stretch but not quite the 40% needed for the bands so I used a navy ribbing for the neck and hem bands.
Little bro was keen to get in on the action!
I sewed this project in one hour! I was going out in the morning and just had a small amount of time to squeeze it in. I had already cut out the body and sleeve pieces but everything else was done in that time. I made it on my overlocker and didn’t need to use my machine at all.
I made this one first, using another French Terry in beige with large black spots.
I cut a size 3 for this one, as my daughter’s chest size measured only a 2 year size. I made the length for a 6 year old.
It’s a great pattern for casual dressing, and works really well for boys too. I didn’t make the Collage option but would love to try one. You can buy the pattern from the Made by Toya Etsy shop.
And these are the awesome boots my daughter is wearing, I want some myself!
